Orivatis Wild Red takes two indigenous Greek varieties and pushes them firmly away from the safe route. Mandilaria brings structure, dark fruit and grip, while the much rarer Vradiano adds lift, juiciness and aromatic detail. The result is a dry, medium-plus-bodied red with character, but without unnecessary weight.

The blend is 60% Mandilaria and 40% Vradiano, sourced from old vines in a 5-hectare vineyard around Kathenoi, at the foothills of Mount Dirfys in Central Euboea. In the glass, expect red and dark berries, cherry and sour cherry alongside herbs, pepper and earthy, savoury notes. The tannins are present but integrated, giving the wine enough structure for food while keeping the fruit alive.

Spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts and amphora maturation define the winemaking. The wine is bottled unfiltered, keeping the style deliberately direct and minimally polished. This is not another anonymous Greek red blend. It is a strong list option for sommeliers looking for native varieties, alternative vinification and a wine with a proper story behind it.
