The Hermit Rose
The Hermit Rosé brings three varieties together in a blend that is slightly harder to predict than the colour suggests. Malagouzia leads at 60%, with Mandilaria at 30% and Grenache Rouge at 10%. The result is a generous but fresh rosé, moving between spring flowers, red fruit and subtle mineral notes, with a spicy edge on the finish.
The vineyards sit in Boeotia, Central Greece, at around 250 metres. The Malagouzia and Grenache vines are 10 to 12 years old, while the Mandilaria comes from 30-year-old vines. Grapes are harvested by hand into small crates and cooled before entering the winery, keeping the fruit in good condition before vinification begins.
The three varieties undergo pre-fermentation maceration, followed by fermentation at low temperature in small stainless-steel tanks. The wine then spends 10 months on its lees with frequent bâtonnage. That extended ageing gives the rosé more texture and presence than a simple summer pour, while keeping the fresh red-fruit and floral character firmly in place.

Greek varieties come with baggage. Some are famous. Some are misunderstood. Others barely register outside the places where they grow. Vasiliki Akriotou approaches them without much interest in those old hierarchies.
