Naoussa
Paliokalias is not a cuvée. It is a place. A steep, quiet hillside with vines older than most wineries in Greece, rooted deep in limestone clay and worked organically for decades by the Dalamara family. Kostis Dalamaras treats this vineyard with the restraint of someone who knows he is not improving it. He is simply translating it.
Everything here moves slowly. Low yields. Careful sorting. Native fermentation. Gentle extraction. Aging that allows Xinomavro to shape itself rather than be shaped. The result is a wine that does not behave like a younger sibling to Naoussa but like its benchmark. It opens with the calm confidence of a vineyard that has nothing left to prove.
Paliokalias is taut, aromatic, structured, and endlessly layered. The tannins are firm but never harsh, the fruit is lifted rather than loud, and the finish carries the quiet power that only old vines can give. It evolves in the glass the way it evolves in the cellar, revealing itself slowly and with intention.
This is not a wine for instant impact. It is a wine for people who understand that greatness in Xinomavro comes from patience, truth, and the ability to let the vineyard speak. Paliokalias speaks clearly. It defines Naoussa rather than follows it.

The producer
Naoussa has many stories, but only a few names that shaped its heartbeat. Domaine Dalamara is one of them. A family that has been making wine here since 1840 and now led by Kostis Dalamaras, the sixth generation who returned from Burgundy and Catalonia to take an old estate and quietly push it into a new era. … Read more
