George Lelektsoglou

Vieilles Vignes de Gervans

Crozes-Hermitage

“Lieu-dit La Brocarde” is the flagship Côte-Rôtie of Georges Lelektsoglou, sourced from the La Brocarde vineyard on the Côte Brune. This is a steep, top-tier site planted with very old Syrah vines ranging from 70 to 100 years old, grown on iron-rich schist soils. The wine is produced in minute quantities, often only a single barrel per vintage.

Vinification follows a traditional northern Rhône approach. The Syrah is fermented in open vats, with a high proportion of whole clusters in certain vintages. The wine is then matured for approximately 36 months or more in one-year-old barriques before being bottled by gravity, unfined and unfiltered.

The cuvée is recognized for its powerful yet highly aromatic profile, with past critical notes highlighting violets, lilac, rose, dark berries, smoked bacon, tapenade and graphite. Multiple vintages have received mid-90s scores, including 93–95+ from Jeb Dunnuck.

La Brocarde is considered one of the most limited and collectible wines associated with Georges Lelektsoglou, reflecting both the rarity of the parcel and the extremely small production volumes.

95-97 - 2022 Vintage

Black raspberries, spicy wood, and smoked meats
emerge from the 2022 Côte Rôtie Lieu-Dit La
Brocarde, which shines for its incredible purity of fruit.
Medium to full-bodied and aged in third-year barrels, it
delivers gorgeous mid-palate depth, fine tannins, and
outstanding overall balance. My money is on it being a
truly brilliant Côte Rôtie
