Orivatis Rosé

Orivatis Rosé is a delicate, expressive rosé made from Syrah and Cabernet Franc grown in the viticultural zone of Central Greece. The vines are 10–12 years old and planted at 280–380 metres, bringing freshness and definition to a wine designed for both the table and the aperitif hour.

After destemming, the grapes are left uncrushed and undergo a 12-hour cold soak at 5°C. Fermentation follows at gradually increasing temperatures to build aromatic complexity, followed by two months of lees stirring.

Pale salmon in colour, it opens with juicy strawberry, cherry, bergamot, watermelon, pink rose and Turkish delight. The medium-bodied palate balances vibrant fruit, medium-plus acidity and a gentle touch of sweetness, with marshmallow, strawberry jam, quince and rose water leading to a persistent floral finish. Serve at 10°C on its own, with pasta in light red sauces or spicy Asian dishes.

Savatiano is central to that story, particularly the old vines around Mount Kithairon, but it is not the whole story. Assyrtiko, Malagouzia, Aidani and rarer Greek varieties all form part of a wider exploration of what contemporary Greek wine can be when reputation stops dictating the result … Read more
