Chardonnay
Phelan Farm Chardonnay is California stripped of the costume. No tropical weightlifting. No oak gymnastics. This is Chardonnay from Cambria, on the San Luis Obispo Coast, shaped by Pacific cold, coastal fog and Raj Parr’s obsession with wines that feel alive, not manufactured.
The vineyard sits close to the ocean, where the climate keeps the fruit bright and the structure tight. Phelan Farm is worked with regenerative thinking and a low-intervention mindset, giving the wine its core: citrus, orchard fruit, saline tension and a quiet mineral line that cuts through the glass.
In the cellar, the approach is simple but demanding. Native yeasts, direct pressing, neutral oak and ageing in large Stockinger puncheon, with no need for decorative winemaking tricks. The result is Chardonnay with precision, texture and nerve. A white for lists that want California, but with less volume and more voltage.

The producer
On the far edge of Cambria, where the Pacific wind cuts through the vineyard and California stops pretending to be obvious, Raj Parr is building something quieter, sharper, and far more interesting.
Phelan Farm is a farm-first project. The vines sit close to the ocean, rooted in fractured shale, calcareous clay, and ancient marine-influenced ground. No irrigation. No chemicals. Regenerative farming, sheep in the vineyard, cover crops, native yeasts, neutral vessels, no fining, no filtration. Nothing polished for theatre. Everything pushed toward energy, texture, and place... Read more
