White

On Tinos, vines cling to terraces cut into schist and slate, battered by the meltemi winds. This is where Vaptistis crafts their White, a blend of Assyrtiko and Monemvasia that carries the raw clarity of the island.

Assyrtiko brings the spine: acidity, salinity, that unmistakable Cycladic nerve. Monemvasia softens the edges, adds breadth and quiet charm. Fermented and aged on lees, the wine keeps its precision but gains texture, a weight that feels more sea-breeze than oak.

Vaptistis White isn’t chasing polish or fashion. It’s Tinos in a bottle, wild, mineral, luminous. A wine that makes the island’s harsh beauty drinkable.

The producer

On Tinos, the wind doesn’t whisper. It howls. Most people hide. Yiannis “Vaptistis” Moraitis planted vines. Everyone called him crazy. They weren’t wrong—who builds a winery on a rock battered by the meltemi? But that’s exactly why his wines taste alive… Read more
