Terroir Pie Franco

Terroir Monastrell is De Nariz stripped back to its essentials: one vineyard, old vines and Monastrell with nowhere to hide.

The wine comes from a single high-altitude parcel in Yecla, planted with ungrafted Monastrell vines more than 50 years old. The dry Mediterranean climate gives the grape concentration, while altitude and limestone-rich soils bring the freshness and tension that keep the wine from becoming heavy.

In the glass, the emphasis is on dark and red fruit, Mediterranean herbs, spice and a savoury edge. Oak is kept in the background, adding shape rather than sweetness. The result is generous but controlled, with good acidity, fine tannins and a long, balanced finish.

This is Monastrell with depth, but also restraint. A wine that keeps the warmth of Yecla while showing a fresher, more precise side of the variety.

The producer

De Nariz is Pedro Martínez’s personal exploration of Mediterranean Monastrell, built around old vines, altitude and individual parcels across Murcia. Rather than forcing the region into a single style, the project works vineyard by vineyard, allowing orientation, soil and microclimate to shape each wine… Read more
