Malagouzia Microcosmos
Malagouzia Microcosmos is the more focused, lower-yield side of Zafeirakis’ work with one of Greece’s most expressive white varieties. It keeps the aromatic appeal that makes the grape easy to like, but tightens the shape and sharpens the message. This is not the loose, overtly floral version. It is a more deliberate take, built for buyers who want perfume, freshness, and a bit more edge.
The fruit comes from Paleomylos in Tyrnavos, in Thessaly, at 150 to 200 metres altitude. Sandy-clay soils with high flint concentration, a dry warm climate, and limited rainfall help keep the wine precise rather than broad. The vines are 25 years old, farmed organically and biodynamically, and cropped at lower yields than the standard Malagousia, which gives the wine more concentration and a firmer sense of place.
In the cellar, the handling stays simple and exact. Fermentation is spontaneous and takes place in stainless steel, with no oak to soften or blur the line of the wine. The result is a white that works where aromatic lift matters, but clarity matters more. Strong by the glass, useful with modern Mediterranean food, and convincing on a serious list.

The producer
In Tyrnavos, at the foot of Mount Olympus, Ktima Zafeirakis has become one of the clearest modern references for Greek wine with identity. The estate is led by Christos Zafeirakis, a fourth-generation winemaker who studied oenology in Athens and continued his training in Turin and Milan before returning home in 2005 to plant his first organic vineyard. That return did not produce a nostalgic family continuation. It produced something much more relevant: a winery with roots, but also with vision… Read more
